Building on the success of the current generation Vauxhall Insignia which won European Car of the Year in 2009, a brand new Insignia Grand Sport will be introduced in 2017 with completely new design architecture.
The new Insignia Grand Sport offers new experience both inside and out, the cabin now benefits from a new driver-centric design wherethe cockpit is fully aligned to the driver who sits 3cm lower than previously. This allows for the driver to be integrated providing a more engaged driving experience. The centre console provides additional driver support as the instruments face the driver and all controls can easily be reached. All this results in a position similar to the one provided in a competition touring car!
Despite an unchanged vehicle length the new Insignia Grand Sport is up to 175kg lighter than the outgoing model, this is not the only change to the exterior however. The design language has shifted towards a much more elegant yet bold design, the grille sits lower than on the outgoing model and further emphasises its solid stance. What Vauxhall calls a “sweepspear” feature starts in the front door and gives the impression that the Insignia Grand Sport is always ready to pounce, which is another nod to the athletic lightness of the Monza Concept.
The Insignia Grand Sport, will receive its world premiere at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show in March.
